Maintaining a young fighting combat ready Military force is essential to ensure defense and security of any state. As a consequence, Military personnel retire 10 to 15 years earlier than their civilian counterparts and by default have to adopt a second career to support their families. Realizing the fact, Pakistan Air Force has embarked on the journey to facilitate its workforce for a smooth transition from Military to Civil life. Study of global best practices of contemporary Air Forces and Rehab models of sister services has paved the way for PAF to adopt a comprehensive approach to reorganize and revitalize the PAF Rehabilitation Programme leading to “One Window Operation” to facilitate and ensure “Right Person for the Right Job”.
The consideration at the highest level by the Air Staff to mitigate the post retirement intricacies resulted in the formation of ACAS (Rehabilitation) setup under DG W&R setup, with an aim to facilitate retiring personnel by exploring suitable jobs in conventional and contemporary job markets both inland and abroad as well as by guiding the retiring personnel on resolution of new challenges / issues that includes education on finance, property management, higher education, stress management, welfare aspects, pension issues, etc through Pre-Retirement Preparatory Workshops.
